QB Analysis

Coming off a season-high 38.1 Fantasy points, Mariota is a good bet to exceed that number against a Washington State defense that — while allowing just 220.3 passing yards per game — have achieved that against Rutgers, Nevada and Portland State….It’s time to go all-in with Taysom Hill, who’s averaging 36.6 Fantasy points per game. Virginia will be just another defense he’ll roll past….”Thrill” Hill has 11 TD passes in his first three games; expect that total to rise against an SMU D which is giving up 44 points an outing….Cato and Marshall’s air show faces a stiff test versus an underrated Akron defense that is seventh in the nation in points allowed (10.5)….Solomon is quietly emerging as a playmaking threat and should have a field day on a hapless California defense…The nation’s leader in passing yards, Halliday (517 ypg) will throw early, often and all night versus Oregon. Remember, he threw 89 (!!!) times in last year’s loss to the Ducks….It’s hard to go against Prescott’s strong start, yet he has to be downgraded as the Bulldogs head to Death Valley for a Saturday night date at LSU….Mauk recorded just 24.2 Fantasy points against UCF last week; those numbers will take a climb versus Indiana….Lunt’s poor performance at Washington (17.2 Fantasy points) will be forgotten considering the pass-happy Illini welcome Sun Belt fodder Texas State….Kiel left a lasting impression with a 418-yard, six-TD effort in his debut; winless Miami (OH) presents a great follow-up.

RB Analysis

Connor rolls along, averaging 34.6 Fantasy points per game, best at the position. Iowa’s defense will be a challenge, but Pittsburgh is too diverse offensively for the Hawkeyes (seventh vs. the run) to constantly stack the line against “The Hammer”…..Pity Louisiana-Lafayette, which has to deal with a pent-up Ajayi, who comes off a season-low 5.5 Fantasy points at UConn….Abdullah has just 19 carries in an easy win at Fresno State, yet expect those touches to be more frequent as Nebraska faces a stiff Miami (Fla.) defense that ranks 15th in the nation against the run…..Hunt was ineffective as Toledo was blown out early at Cincinnati. That shouldn’t be the case as the Rockets open MAC play against Ball State….Franklin has been the breakout freshman at the position, averaging 37 Fantasy points in his first two games. Those numbers should be maintain as Western Michigan faces Murray State….Gurley should be ranked higher, yet it’s hard to imagine he’ll get an extensive workload against Troy….Collins has put together 63.3 Fantasy points in his last two games as the run-heavy Razorbacks welcome Northern Illinois in what should be a shootout…..A week off gives a more-healthy Gordon a chance to forget the 17-38 outing against Western Illinois….Langford is off to a slow start, but a home date versus Eastern Michigan is an opening tonic to a strong run in the Big 10….James gave his owners a paltry 6.5 Fantasy points in a loss to Penn State last week, yet there’s a strong rebound opportunity for him against Navy.

WR Analysis

Myers’ 11-227-3 numbers against Portland State last week translated into 43.3 Fantasy points. He’s now Connor Halliday’s go-to man and is a Must Start against Oregon…..Three straight games with a pair of touchdown receptions makes Spruce a surefire option as Colorado welcomes Hawaii….White has pulled in 32 passes for 460 yards in three games, so the fact he has just two touchdowns would be nitpicking…..Cooper’s going to produce, yet there’s a slight downgrade as the Crimson Tide takes on Florida…..Miller showed his versatility when he threw a TD pass at UConn last week, so his receiving prowess is further enhanced….You know the Pirates (seventh in the nation) are going to throw often, so plug in Hardy (23-267-2) in what could be a high-scoring affair against North Carolina….Greenberry found the end zone for the first two times in Houston’s loss at BYU, a clear sign his early-season slump is over…..Lippett is the playmaker for the suddenly pass-mad Spartans, and while Michigan State will eventually return its focus to the run, Lippett remains a solid option…..Jones is the player Anu Solomon has counted on, as Jones has consecutive 100-yard efforts with three touchdowns to boot. He’s a sleeper as Arizona begins Pac-12 play.

TE Analysis

Johnson is Marshall’s leading rusher, yet has TE-eligibility in a variety of leagues. He’s most likely gone in most of those, but is a Must Grab on the slim chance he’s available in yours’….Ruiz is a frequent target for Panthers QB Nick Arbuckle and is still worthy to be started at Washington….Smith leads FIU with 18 catches; no other player on the Golden Panthers’ roster has more than six, which makes him a sure play in your lineup….Sinz has quietly become a target of interest for the Boilermakers…..Williams has just six catches, but has two touchdowns while also remaining the focal point of Minnesota’s passing game…Backman is a name to keep in mind as the season progresses.
